ReplyDeleteMy name is Vinny Grosso, and I am the Director of the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter. To begin, the allegations above are entirely false. The former employee in question has never been reprimanded for any violation of the City of Florence’s Euthanasia Policy. This employee spent countless tiring hours trying to save the hundreds of unwanted animals that come through our shelter every month. This employee was not forced to resign, nor was she asked to resign. Difficult decisions have to be made every day by shelter employees regarding what to do with the constant influx of unwanted animals. Although we strive to find homes, rescues, or fosters for every unwanted animal, the inevitable truth is that some animals have to be euthanized. The employees that have to make these decisions are put under a tremendous amount of stress each and every day, which may have been a contributing factor when this employee chose to move in a different direction. As a side note, this former employee (who, by the way, is credited for saving hundreds unwanted animals by sending them to rescue), is still aiding the shelter today by fostering and finding rescue for animals from our shelter.
