Sheffield School Safety/Missing a Business?

Niche.com recently published a survey of safe schools; here's a rundown on local centers of learning:

You'll notice that Sheffield isn't on the list drawn from the top 20. A reader comments on this:

Sheffield City is NOT on the list. Why was Keith Lankford just given another $5,000 bonus for the second year in a row? Why is he asking the school board for even more money? The latest board minutes aren't posted on the district website yet, but Lankford recently asked the board to consider bringing his salary more in line with those of other area superintendents. That's some audacity right there, considering the myriad of problems that the district had to deal with during the 2016-2017 school year.

Sheffield readers? What say you? (More on other Sheffield problems coming soon.)

Has a long-time Florence business recently closed its doors without notice? We've heard snippets about the company, and when we attempted to call, a recording said they weren't accepting calls. Hmmmm.

We believe good (that's good, not flashy) things are coming to Veterans Park. Yes, we know it's been a long time coming. We should have some info next week...

  1. You DO realize your "link" to a supposed "list" of "safe" school systems is a facebook posting, or do you? The hypocrisy of this blog to go after publications for their incompetency, is glaring. Of course, as with everything that is published here, it is either written with gross negligence or outright fabrication. Talk about your "fake news"!!! It is hilarious how the authors of this blog pretend to be writing a "news blog with a political slant" (as at one time was a banner) A news blog full of "fake news" with a one sided WRONG information political slant. Got to give the dumbed down public something, don't you! Is Shoalanda a Russian name?????????????????

    1. The list of safe systems in each state was compiled by niche.com, something you would have realized if you had read the article we referenced. If you disagree with the rankings, please take it up with niche.com.

  3. No, if you click on the link "FOUR SAFE LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS" it takes you to a Facebook posting from the Muscle Shoals Police dept concerning an arrest. At least my computer does. That was my point, do you even check the stuff you publish?
