Sheffield: Bermuda Triangle of Unfinished Projects?

Unfinished projects? Sheffield wins hands down. We're not talking about city promoted projects. If that were the case, Florence and Rogersville would have a few of their own. No, we're talking about proposed commercial projects.

In the past ten years or so we've had DreamVision (admittedly a bust from the start and a project that somewhat spilled over into Muscle Shoals). Then there was the golf course near the bluff. Our favorite was the cineplex on Hatch Boulevard; that one seemed doable, but apparently not. Now there's Inspiration Landing.

Anyone seen John Elkington lately? Anyone seen anybody from the Inspiration Landing project? In the past two months, there have been two articles in the TimesDaily about the project and Sheffield's role in it. Neither Elkington nor anyone from his group of investors has offered up a quote for the articles. Isn't this where real estate promoters usually attempt to keep their names in the public's eye?

We received quite a few comments about the Greenhill Senior Center. Our recent blog was a work of satire, but some took umbrage to it nevertheless.

Apparently the center is being forced to move for two reasons - not enough parking after recent road widening and the eminent sale of the building. The Lauderdale County Commission expects to receive a grant in order to build a new one, one that the commission is stressing won't be fancy, just serviceable.

No, by all means, let's not give the county residents anything nice. We do realize the city has more money to spend on a senior center, but if the county is going to build one, it should be done right the first time.

Did everyone read this?

So where is his child now? Wasting away in Latvia while he attempts to whoop it up in a hot tub with a co-ed 35 years his junior?
