Veterans Day 2016

The Armistice was officially signed 98 years ago today. Veterans Day as we know it is unique to the United States; other allied countries celebrate Remembrance Day. Our country, or at least parts of it, already had two competing Memorial Days, so November 11th became a day to honor those who no longer served in the military, but were still living.

Yet oddly enough, Veterans Day activities still offer up memorials to those who gave their lives for this country. Perhaps instead of wondering why we have two days of remembrance, we should ask why we have only two?
