The Shoals Democratic Club Meeting will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013, 6:00 p.m., at the Operating Engineers Hall, Local 320, Dr. Hicks Blvd. Florence, Alabama. The keynote speaker for the 6:30 program is Mr. Bradley Davidson, Executive Director of the Alabama Democratic Majority. The public is invited to attend.

Local state representative Lynn Greer has announced he wants a bill passed to "take lies out of" Alabama campaigns. Good. That should make the campaign season about two hours long...

Campaign signs should be limited to billboards. NO yard or right of way litter. Those things are despicable, serve no purpose other than moving/removing. I don't know anyone who ever voted for a candidate because he saw his sign. Buy newspaper ads and billboards. No mailouts (junkmail), no door hangers, NO signs littering the landscape. That candidate will exhibit his stand on environmental, public safety, and willingness to listen to his constituency. He'll also get my vote. Lynn, you're a good man and I hope you return to Montgomery. This proposal is a start but please confer with your colleagues about littering the landscape with signs which only waste campaign money and irritate voters. A will to listen and respond is invaluable.
