He Was Only 13

 

The news reports are calling Wednesday's alleged robbery a plot - a plot concocted by a 17 year-old and a 13 year-old. That's right, the dead boy wasn't even 14 as most reports said. He was 13 years and 11 months. Now he'll be that age forever.

His obituary is online; it mentions all his family. On paper, he appeared loved. If the Florence Police are correct in theory, how did this boy, one might even say little boy, who proudly wore his middle school football uniform in photos, come to lie dead in an apartment complex parking lot?

Our blogger J. Redmon has often mentioned the problems with today's children. Something like this really brings it home.

Something needs to be done. Let's hope Sunday's sermons carry some pithy remarks for all of us.
