Amanda Duboise Watkins Case to Grand Jury

Amanda Duboise Watkins of Florence will now face a Colbert County Grand Jury. Watkins was arrested in December 2009 and charged with the rape of one of her former students. Attorneys for Watkins argued at her preliminary hearing that there was insufficient evidence to present to a grand jury; however, Judge George Carpenter disagreed.

Watkins is now estranged from her husband Charles Carter Watkins. She was also terminated from her position at Sheffield Junior High in January.

Killen Police still have not released the name of the arresting officer in the death of Dennis Cole at the Super 8 Motel adjacent to Shoal Creek. Cole was arrested last year in Franklin County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and authorities believe his death was drug related.

Update on Brandon Shane Munday: Sources with the ABI have spoken with North Courltand Police about Munday's previous employment. Apparently Munday also previously worked for the Somerville Police Department. His twelve day employment with the Town Creek Police ended when he emptied his gun into a car he stated was being driven erratically.

Personal sources close to Munday and his wife have revealed the accident that claimed the life of Gary and Sandra Cox happened just hours after Munday's wife had ended their marriage. The ABI is expected to finish its preliminary report at the end of this week, when it will be forwarded to the Lawrence County District Attorney.
