The two youths arrested for the savage beating of a Leighton youth have received "juvenile" status. The TimesDaily is therefore not releasing their names. Pen-N-Sword has previously identified the former fugitives as Demetrius Hampton and David Hill. It's our opinion that anyone old enough to intentionally shoot, stab, or otherwise attack an individual--then either run from police or lie about the crime--is old enough to be treated and tried as an adult.

Tetter Welch's New Tattoo
Tanisha Tetter Welch, first-cousin of Ronald Weems, failed to appear at her hearing on harassment charges last week. She was reportedly arrested at work today on additional charges and taken to the Tuscumbia City Jail where female prisoners are held.

I will challenge only one of your points here. Man is not the only species that chooses "right" or "wrong." Man is the only species with an accountable soul.
DeleteThe second point is not a challenge, but a point of fact. Miss Welch was arrested for sending harassing communications--communications we've published copies of here. Amanda is deceased, killed in your sister's home by someone (to phrase it in a non-accusatory manner). Amanda's family has been remarkably silent on much of this; we would suggest you take a cue from them.

ReplyDeleteI haven't responded to anything written in months, but I feel the urge to now. First off the harrassie communications. I don't blame Tanisha for going off on Tiffany. I saw the comments that originally started it. It was Tiffany harassing Tanisha as Tiffany has done me. Tiffany likes to threaten also. My local DA's office has the evidence to prove how she did it to me. Just because I'm Ron's friend. I just chose not to pursue legal recourse after speaking to Mr. Leeth. I figured why add more drama to the situation, like she likes to do. There is quite a bit of painful emotions in the situation. Some people just don't know how to channel their pain in a acceptable way.
ReplyDeleteSecondly: Why should it matter to anyone if Ron got baptized? That is between him and his Lord and Savior. It really isn't anything to be written about or judged by people. Speculation as to his reasons for doing it is just like he house gossip. Why should any of you care? Their are more news worthy stories to write about in your area aren't their? The Presidential election is in just a few days, there are new crimes happening every day, and there are new blessings happening every day. Shoalanda you have just about beat the subject of Ronald Weems into the ground. Could you find a new, fresh subject to write about? Thank you. I am finished with my venting
The presidential election? We rarely comment on national issues. As for Amanda's murder, it's the most heinous crime committed locally in this still somewhat new century. It will be news until the trials and appeals are finished.
DeleteAs for the baptism of Ronald Weems, we have never objected to that. A simple ceremony in a portable baptistry set up in the jail would have been appropriate--not a trip to a Baptist church in Muscle Shoals (as we have since been informed). After we reported on the junket, two Huntsville stations also reported on what all of us consider a security breach.
