Dr. Death

Dr. Death

A Guest Commentary By

Who is this person titled Dr. Death? Dr. Donald Berwick as the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is gathering far less attention than a certain other nominee, but he will be getting more attention in the weeks to come given his particularly radical agenda when it comes to health policy.

Berwick is a leading Ivy League academic and technocrat. He’s graduated from Harvard not once, but three times and is the founder of a Cambridge-based think-tank, the Institute for Health Care Improvement. The job of running CMS is hardly the same as running a small think tank or talking in broad terms about the nature of health care CMS is essentially the world’s second largest insurance company after Britain’s NHS, covering over 98 million people and overseeing roughly $800 billion annually in taxpayer-funded health care expenditures.

Berwick is a great fan of the NHS (Great Britain), and worked as a consultant on the project under Tony Blair. Berwick will have the opportunity to apply the ideas he gained through that experience with the power of the CMS position, which means that his nomination holds massive ramifications for Medicare and Medicaid recipients, hospitals and doctors and, under Obama’s law, all Americans.

These are some of his quotes given to CMS:

“Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional."

To redistribute wealth: Take from those that work hard and accumulate homes, cars, savings accounts etc. Then give to those who do not, i.e. illegal aliens...Socialism at its finest.
Berwick has condemned the free market’s involvement in medical practice and declared the United States should be more like Britain, “Where some people die waiting in line for medical treatment.”

Berwick also lambasted consumers in the United States for being able to get the care they want as opposed to need in the United States. He wants to fix this “problem” declaring, “That is for leaders to do.”

They work for it--that’s disgraceful.

Once again, the Obama Administration is opposed to the private sector and capitalism, trading it for socialism. Does anyone out there believe the multi-billionaires like Soros, Ted Turner, Bill Gates to name a few are going to share their fortunes with the less fortunate and illegal aliens? After all, they did work hard to get where they are. Then again, the millionaires like Obama and Pelosi will be first in line to divest themselves of all that sordid wealth settling for a thousand dollar a month income. I think not. Obama has missed the point of this republic completely. He quotes John Kennedy a lot but forgets his most famous quote, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.” This is only one great quote from his inauguration.

“The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe - the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.” JFK understood where the rights of man originated. What God do you listen to Mr. Obama for it surely is not John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s God?

It is time for the American people to rise up and stop Comrade Barry Obama and his co-conspirators Pelosi and Reid at the ballot box.
