The Prisoner's New Clothes

Look closely at the photo of Michael W. Houston and you'll note that he's shirtless. Colbert County authorities arrested Houston for public nudity and apparently failed to provide him with a top for his booking photo. Let's hope deputies at least gave the 52 year-old married Cherokee resident a pair of pants.

Sources tell us that Douglas "Slugo" Craig's beating victim was the sister of Mark Anthony Hurley, aka the Reedtown Rapist. Had Craig survived his knife wounds, we feel sure he would have fared much worse at the hands Hurley.

Do you have a weight problem? Okay, that wasn't the best way to phrase the question; let's just say would you like to lose some weight? Sixty percent of Alabamians are overweight, and that may be a conservative estimate. So...what do we do about it?

Buckle down? Take the bull by the horns? Any other cliche' you can think of? Obviously, it's easy to talk the talk, but walking the walk? One local woman has decided to walk the walk and watch the scales. In fact, she's so determined to lose weight, she's started her own blog so that we can follow her progress in achieving that goal.

Flab Wars is a humorous read, but it also offers those of us who need to slim down the encouragement we may be lacking. I haven't met Elisa yet, but I feel that I know a great deal about her already. She's witty and writes well--two pluses right there.
