Three Takes on Muscle Shoals Police Shooting

From Tyler Mann (pictured), Huntsville attorney representing the family of Mr. Ronald Parrish: Mr. Parrish was tased at least once. This leads to questions about the use of deadly force and the department’s training in response to mental illness calls, including, but not limited to, dementia.

From a distinguished Colbert County citizen: I've been made privy to what happened on Tuxedo Avenue in Muscle Shoals, where Mr. Parrish was shot and killed. It bothers me that three healthy Muscle Shoals Police Officers answer a mental distress call (that) involves a 5'9" 170 pound 68 year-old white male and they are not able to defuse.

From Shoalanda: Like a great many people, I've had a relative with Alzheimer's. Sudden anger and irrational behavior often occur - this is a mental health problem, not a criminal one. Florence has a mental health officer; Muscle Shoals does not. The Muscle Shoals officers took something they can never give back, and the lives of the Parrish family have been forever changed. I pray that they can receive a small measure of justice.
