Sources in the Sheffield Police Department have identified Cecil Roy Ellsworth as the registered sex offender arrested yesterday on charges of criminal solicitation for prostitution. Ellsworth moved to the Shoals in January and was arrested in June on two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of prescription drugs.
Due to a prior conviction on similar charges three years ago, Ellsworth faces a felony charge on the marijuana possession. At that time, Sheffield police stated they were also investigating Ellsworth for promoting prostitution. If convicted of the drug charges, Ellsworth faces a minimum of three years in prison.
Ellsworth has previously promoted himself as someone active in prison ministries, but neighbors in Sheffield have filed several complaints about his other activities. After our June blog on the sex offender, a reader contacted us with claims that the police had set up the Texas native. Somehow we feel Sheffield authorities have better things to do...

The Tennessee Valley Historical Society invites you to visit their booth in Building No. 1 at the North Alabama State Fair this weekend. The theme of "White-Black and Red in Civil War" historically depicts all races who fought either on Confederate and Union sides and the battle flag artifacts depicting the period.
Shoalanda
This is just another negative incorrect blog post about Roy Ellsworth. Shoalanda is not interested in both sides of a story, but only that of police. Mr. Ellsworth fell and broke his hip a few weeks ago. He has been in rehab for the past few weeks. This is when the police served him with a warrant for his arrest.
ReplyDeleteThey said that the warrant was issued in July, but this is the first time we are hearing about it. He has been in rehab and the hospital for the past few weeks.
He was and is not a threat to anyone. He has never promoted prostitution. I would like to know who the so called "neighbors" are. Shoalanda why don't you get both sides of a story before bloging about it. It may make you look a little bit smarter.
Mr. Ellsworth fell and broke his hip in mid August. Sense then he has been in the hospital or in rehab. He is and has not been a threat to anyone. He did not promote prostitution. He has been in rehab.
ReplyDeleteThe above statements are the facts. He was contacted by police a few days ago and they told him that there was a warrant for his arrest for promotion of prostitution. However this charge is baseless. It is just another trumped up charge that the police are making.
I would also like to hear from these so called "neighbors". If the real facts were presented I think that they would show that Mr. Ellsworth has never promoted prostitution.
Remember there are always two sides to every story and not everything you read on a blog post is true. I encourage everyone to find the facts for themselves. Dig deeper and learn about the person first hand and not from some negative secondary source that only wants to denigrate people.
Bo Ellsworth
There is nothing incorrect in this blog. We have not said the neighbors are justified in their complaints. We do know they've complained. We're also sure you love your father, but we have no reason to believe that the Sheffield police have singled him out for false arrest...or anyone else for that matter.
DeleteOf course you would have no reason to believe the police have singled him out. You are only interested in what they have to say anyway. You have made no effort to get to know who my dad really is. You have not said or tried to write anything positive about him. I would not be standing behind my dad if I did not believe in him.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone reading this blog wants to talk to me about this matter they can call me at 205-412-9484. I will answer any questions that you have about my dad. The good and the bad.
