Municipal Elections/Elzo Jeremiah Robins

Do municipal elections matter? We think they do. Learn what you can about the candidates and, above all, vote.

If you live in Florence, you should have received an invitation to a First Friday reception featuring mayoral candidate Susan Goode. Unfortunately, many readers have reported to us that they didn’t receive the mail-out until Friday, some not even bringing in their mail until arriving home after the start of the event.

More online solicitation: Two days ago we blogged about a career criminal who’s now soliciting young girls over Facebook. Here’s another one that has actually been indicted; unfortunately, Elzo Robins hasn’t yet been captured. Surely some of our readers know where he is:

As far as we know, there have been no new indictments or arrest warrants issued in the Chip Dillard/Tim Staggs sex trafficking case. It’s been reported that two new search warrants have been issued. The Lauderdale Grand Jury meets again in about two weeks. Expect more fireworks then.

In the mean time, here’s a pic of one of the sweet innocents allegedly dragged into the Florence attorney’s scheme:

Is this the North Florence McDonald's?

  1. Your snarky reference to a potential victim of sex trafficking as a "sweet innocent" is beyond disgusting. Many of the women who find themselves victims to such crimes usually have a history of sexual abuse that results in a complete lack of self worth (which might explain the woman's appearance in the picture above). You have shown time and time again a complete inability to self-reflect when called out in comments on this blog. I hope that you can take a step back and reconsider the language you chose to use in this post.

    1. There’s not one of the six victims who didn’t have a rap sheet as long as Chip Dillard thinks a certain part of his anatomy is. Not one of these women was someone who was, perhaps in the company of a boyfriend or brother, in the wrong place at the wrong time. No, Dillard knew the ones to recruit.

    2. I am not disputing that these women live troubled lives. They are more vulnerable to become victims of horrific crimes such as human trafficking. It's a shame that you are choosing to mock a victim in your post.

I read your blog on a regular basis. I think you do a valuable service by keeping folks apprised in the Shoals about what is going on. Sometimes though, you fail to grasp the consequences of your snark. Please don't further victimize these women by trying to insinuate that they somehow deserve the crime that these disgusting men perpetrated against them. You're better than that.
