Do you live in Florence? If you answered yes, do you know what Handy Recreation Center looks like? We certainly didn't.
Here's where a problem lies:
Q. How would you like a complete remodel of the Handy Rec?
A - 1. A remodel would be nice.
A - 2. A remodel would be nice, but a completely new center would be even better.
How many answered the city's question with A-1, when they really meant A-2? You have to make it clear if you want something done. The applies to almost any question - remember that!
There's going to be another community meeting concerning Handy. If you don't go and give your input, don't blame Kaytrina Simmons for not being a mind reader:
Wait just a minute......does Handy currently have a gym? It needs one, so build it. Royal Ave rec center does not. Is one getting built there? Handy has a swimming pool. Broadway in east Florence does not. When will construction start on a pool for that side of town? Just when was Handy built in the first place? Broadway was built in 1962 and Royal Ave was built in 1954. Are they getting "replaced"? Broadway is currently getting new paint and flooring in the "social" room. It looked like it still had the 1962 version. Granted, the squeeky wheel gets the grease but how about the city of Florence thinking about ALL the kids in town and not just the ones represented by the adults who have squacking wheels?
