About the New Muscle Shoals City Clerk...

Muscle Shoals Chooses a New City Clerk

Brittany Walters, I mean Walker, was just approved as the new “City Clerk” after the “Gruesome Threesome Comedy Team” of Sockwell, Clark and Thompson voted to combine the City Clerk position with the Finance Director...with a sizable annual salary hike, of course. The amount of said salary is, as yet unknown to this writer, but it would most likely make many sit up and say, “What!”.

The other candidate for the job was Fire Marshal Bryan Stafford with 21 years of City experience, versus the 15 years Banking experience of Candidate Walker. Both candidates were interviewed by HR Director Jalen Jones during Tuesday, September 5th’s City Council Work Session. When asked about the 3 year work ‘Gap’ in candidate Walker’s resume, she responded that she had taken that time off for her family. Commendable, if true. If not, I’m sure MS residents would love to know more about those ‘Mystery’ years. I know this resident would ...

When interviewed by the Times Daily Newspaper, Brittany Walker stated she would try to be “...Understanding with other City Employees...” and be “Sympathetic” to issues and complaints from the Public. She claims to have benefited from working with the previous City Clerk, Ricky Williams and Assistant City Clerk Elaine Cohen, who was promoted to City Clerk after Ricky Williams retirement, at least until Ms Cohen was fired for very questionable reasons and Walker was anointed as City Clerk and Finance Director. Previous to that, she was in Accounts Payable and ‘Handled’ some Absentee Ballots during elections. Once again, I do wonder what Ms Cohen would have to say about that.

Now, Brittany Walker is City Clerk and Finance Director combined. I wonder what someone with 15 years of banking experience had to do to garner the attention of Muscle Shoals Mayor and the Three “DoBees” on the council. Inquiring Minds want to know ....
