Meet Ralph Long Who's Contesting Pettus, Pettus, Melson, Etal.

Pictured is Florence attorney Ralph D. Long Jr, one of two local residents who have contested the results in state Districts 1 & 2 and county District 1. Also filing is Daniel D. Patterson (no photo available).

The charges are "malconduct, fraud, and/or corruption allegedly perpetrated by Senator Tim Melson, Representative Phillip Pettus, Candidate Scott Jones, Candidate Phillip Pettus II, and others known or unknown, satisfying $17-13-78, Code of Alabama, 1975."

Several readers have asked why Scott Jones? We have not seen the original filing, but we may assume it's because lists of endorsed candidates were allowed to be passed out on county school property. Jones has responded that he didn't know that was illegal.

Just a side note: Limestone County had none of these problems. We need to pray for Lauderdale County and all its municipalities.
