Franklin Citizens Call Doc Larry a Liar

Our regular readers know that we have previously endorsed Eric Aycock for the Republican nomination in state senate District 6. One of his two opponents is the current senator Larry Stutts MD. The incumbent is memorable more for his shortcomings than his accomplishments, having been named AL.com's Scumbag of the Year two years ago. Now, some of his Franklin County constituents are calling him a bald faced liar.

It seems that in 2015, Rep. Johnny Mack Morrow (yes, our Johnny Mack) sponsored a bill in the House that would fund Franklin County volunteer fire departments. It passed the House, and then needed to be approved by the Senate. So of course ol' Doc Larry supported it? Uh, no, he didn't.

When some local Franklin County men became aware of Doc Larry's opposition to the bill, they visited him in Montgomery. Joe Mansell, Tony Armstrong, and Michael Moomaw personally contacted Stutts who had initially said he had "bigger fish to fry" than supporting a small time Franklin County bill. After managing to confront Stutts three times in one day, Mansell, Armstrong, and Moomaw managed to convince the state senator to sign off on the bill, effectively assuring its passage.

Fast forward three years, and Stutts said at a recent political rally in East Franklin that he had been a supporter of the bill from the beginning. Many Franklin County residents are livid with ol' Doc Larry, while others are simply watching for new nose growth. We're sure our Johnny Mack is a mite happy himself.

Dems Reaction to Larry's Lies

What were Doc. Larry's bigger fish? A bill to clarify exactly where UNA is located and a bill to prohibit the sale of fetal tissue, an already illegal act under current law. Well...ol' Doc Larry thought it would have looked good on his resume'.

We grow more and more weary of our legislature passing laws that are already on the books. If one could bottle wasted time and sell it, every entrepreneur in the state would move to Montgomery.
