Investigation into UNA Archive Theft Continues

Before Billy Ray Warren, William Lindsey McDonald was the City of Florence historian. At McDonald's death in 2009, his historical papers were donated to the archives at the University of North Alabama. Several months ago, rumors began to circulate that these important documents had been pillaged. If so, for what purpose?

We've heard that the files will be inventoried to determine exactly what is missing...if anything. As of yet, we understand that nothing has officially been initiated. This comes on top of last year's debacle:

Sabotage of UNA Walking Tour

We understand that the almost complete take over of the Florence/UNA federally sponsored tours was reported to the FBI. We also understand that such an act, as unethical as it is, might not be high on the agency's list to investigate. In short, while this was corrected, no one has been, at least to our knowledge, punished for this action.

Now, a local political watchdog group has called out UNA on these crimes:

As more and more citizens of Florence learn how our tax dollars have been misappropriated, how our possessions have been looted, we hope that UNA will act to find these documents and to make sure the person responsible no longer has access to the UNA campus.

What say you, UNA?
