Stolen Valor?

Recently, we've had several contact us concerning the crime of Stolen Valor. This blog can do very little to assist in bringing these crimes to light. Rest assured, claiming a military honor one has not won is a crime punishable by incarceration of one year.

If you're sure of your facts, contact local police. They are the proper authorities to handle this crime. If you merely suspect someone, you may wish to verify his or her credentials by asking:

1. Branch of service.
2. Years/length of service.
3. What was the veteran’s MOS.
4. Bases or ships served at/on.
5. Unit and years of assignment.
6. Rank held and when.
7. Ask to see his VA ID card.

We hope this helps those seeking to expose the fakers. Many thanks to our military expert for the list.
