It's Serious When a Books-A-Million Closes




ANCO stores have closed over the years, but they were usually small affairs left over from who knows when. Now one of the state's largest Books-A-Million outlets at Brookwood Village has closed. COVID-19 or Kindle or both?

We're going with both. No exact cause of demise was given, but neither was any warning. Closer to home, the Tuesday Morning in Florence appears to be safe from what are being called "first round closings" for that company. How reassuring is that? Is that the retail version of The Batchelor?

Who's most vulnerable? Retail pundits say food and apparel are the most likely establishments to go under. Walmart and Amazon march on...
