Jason Lyn Gasque--Pass the Trash

Jason Lyn Gasque is 31 years old and has already had more jobs than many of us do in a lifetime. Why? It's called "Pass the Trash."

The son of Bennie and Vickie Gasque of Leighton, Jason Lyn was a good student and better athlete. This is a combination often found in sexual predators (see Keith McGuire story). Growing up in Leighton, he was popular due to his athletic accomplishments, and few in the small town would have failed to recommend Gasque for whatever endeavor he chose to pursue.

Jason Gasque and his wife live on Berry Circle in Florence, an upscale neighborhood located between Greenbriar and Hickory Hills. It's a long drive from his home in Florence to his latest teaching assignment in Speake in Lawrence County, but apparently no one saw this as odd. Apparently no one was really looking at Jason Lyn Gasque until now.

In the autumn of 2005, Gasque was teaching at Richland High School in Lynnville, Tennessee. The next autumn, he was hired at Florence High School as a math teacher. Gasque lasted two years at Florence High before taking the position of Assistant Softball Coach at Colbert County High School, an institution located in his hometown of Leighton.

After six months on the job at Colbert County High, five female softball players came forward to complain that Gasque had made inappropriate comments to them. Not waiting for a hearing, Coach Gasque immediately sought an audience with Colbert County Superintendent Billy Hudson to tender his resignation. Rumors were rife in the community, but Athletic Director Steve Mask defended his friend--an action that allayed fears in much of the provential town. After all, Gasque was one of their own, and Mask wouldn't have defended him if there had been an iota of truth to the accusations.

The fall of 2008 saw Jason Gasque coaching and teaching math at Speake High School in Lawrence County. The small community of Speak is located just southeast of Moulton. Those who travel 157 to Cullman may not even realize they are passing through a town unless they are faithful observers of signage. Now after only five months in this position, Coach Jason Gasque is in trouble again, but this time his actions have led to an arrest.

Accused of inappropriately touching a 16 year-old female student in Speake High School's parking lot, Gasque has been arrested for sexual abuse. How did the school systems that employed Jason Lyn Gasque let down both their communities and the students in their charge?

It's called "Pass the Trash," and it has to stop.

What's up with this: If you don't know how to read your various utility meters, refer to online instructions at city websites; then you'll know more than many professional meter readers.

  1. This article is ridiculous and bringing his entire family and the address at which he lives in unnecessary. One more addition- relating a good student/better athelete combo as being one of the characteristics of a sexual predator is beyond ridiculous. MANY, MANY, men/boys (and yes, some women) are good students, but are more advanced in the atheletic field. That's how most atheletes are. I don't believe that has anything to do with sexual battery.
Let the authorities deal with this.
P.S.- Jason Gasque is not trash. He's just made bad decisions and in due time things will work out.

  3. 1. His address was listed in the paper. This distinguishes him from others with the same name.

    2. When I shop in the mall, a great many items call out to me, tempt me; yet I manage to refrain from shoplifting. A teacher has to be vigilant to avoid the appearance of any untoward activity, much less actively engage in it. I understand the Unabomber was also brilliant at math.

  6. Anderon, "Pass the Trash" is a commonly used term to describe bad teachers who are passed from one system to the next. I did not originate the term, but it does fit.

If you do not think sexual predators and child pornographers are trash, then you have a serious problem.

I go to Speake and i think hes not guilty.I go to class with this man every day. he is the smartest teacher we have ever had. he has a very upbeat and strong personality.I personally think hes not guilty. He could also be a terrible person. We may never know i just hope hes not guilty. He is a harmless person in my opinion.

  8. I think the guilty should pay if found guilty,no matter the profession.I recently heard that there is a preacher in the Shoals area whom at this time will remain anonomous for now, was caught in the late 70's in a southern county in Alabama in the act of adultry with a woman in his church by her husband, who rumor has it, put a gun on him and threatened to kill him. He was run off from that church and he and his wife underwent phsyc. treatment for a few years. He has since bounced around to different areas preaching. He has been here for over 25 years and has pastored several churches in the Shoals.Who knows how many women were subjected to his creepy advances.
These men are just as liable as teachers to those in their care.
I think Shoalanda should investigate this man and do a article called "Charletons in the Shoals" I don't think she would have to dig to deep to get the dirt on him. After all a supposed sexual preditor is a preditor no matter the trade.Maybe Bamafanatic could help do the research. If you need more info, maybe I can help.

  9. What if this man were found NOT GUILTY? What if?
My whole point to the SHOALONDA TRASH BLOG..........is "innocent until proven guilty".
You know what SHOALONDA.....what if this whole situation were fabricated and untrue? Let's fast forward and say he goes to court and is found NOT GUILTY.
He applies for a job somehwere after he get's his life together and his employer "GOOGLES" his name. Guess what comes up? You are correct! All this crap, hate and trash you have thrown upon him (just like the McGuire case). No matter what he does.......your incendiary comments are now on the WWW for everyone to see?
Don't you get? Don't you understand Shoalonda? Why do you insist on dragging folks through the mud BEFORE they are even tried in a court of law.
I promised.....you will be found out as to your true identity and we will see who's name will be plastered all over the WWW for the world to see. Keep on.
