Basketball Coach or Abuser
If you think this is going to be another column about Keith McGuire, former Clements coach and Lexington resident, you're mistaken, but the similarities of the cases are remarkable. It should be noted that according to a study published in Readers' Digest, 35% of all predators have worked as school teachers at some time.
Russell Hough, now 39, was a coach in Warrensburg, Missouri, a small community located just outside the Whiteman Air Force Base. In 2004, he was accused of improprieties with female students, but Warrensburg High School took no action. When accused again in 2006, this time by six female players who claimed the coach touched them during practice, the school suspended Hough; however, the school board almost immediately reinstated the coach without interviewing the young women who made the accusations. The board's actions resulted in a civil suit against the system. Still, Hough remained at the school.
Now, Coach Russell Hough has been accused of having sexual encounters with two students, ages 14 and 16, on school property. He has been indicted for these 2008 statutory rapes among other offenses and is awaiting trial.
How did the school board allow this to happen? For every four e-mails or other communications I've received about the similar situation at Clements, I have received one that has defended a "wonderful man who is the victim of a vindictive ex-wife and students." Certainly, it isn't easy to believe that those we've trusted with our children are actually sexual predators--sometimes child pornographers, but unfortunately it's often the case.
For those who have accused the victims in rape cases, please stop to consider this: Do you really want to take the chance with your wife, sister, or children? I sincerely hope the answer is no.
What's up with this: It seems their Lexington arrest isn't the first time that Anthony Willis and Kelly Quick have been in trouble, according to family they've been stealing from them for some time. It may be difficult, but sometimes "tough love" is what it takes.

How about giving the McGuire family a break!!! Enough is enough. You are doing nothing but hurting his family by your insistent replay of this case over and over. How about telling us your real name and where you live. What's fair is fair. Maybe we can dig up some dirt on you Shoalanda. Come on now, what is your real name and where do you live and work. We want to know.
ReplyDeleteI initially wrote of the Keith McGuire rape accusations after two readers requested it. I do not recall any derogatory remarks about the McGuire family.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm sure that Mr. McGuire cannot comment due to legal constraints, I would welcome any postitive comments by his friends and family and glady make them available to the public.
Unfortunately, no one has yet contacted me with anything positive to say about Mr. McGuire. As I've mentioned eariler, I will be happy to print any guest columns, etc. Simply obstain from profanity, etc., and it will be published verbatim.

Again, this is another example of your playing this case over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Don't you think Mr. & Ms. McGuire are embarrased enough over this situation? If Keith is guilty of these charges then so be it but please let the family have some peace!
Again..........who are you Sholanda? You are quick to list names and employments of folks in your blog but we don't know who you are? Who are you? Where do you live? What are you involved in? Have you evet been involved in anything not on the up and up? Again? Who are you Sholanda. Don't hide behind a "BLOG" while you drag people through the mud with names, locations of where they work and where they live.

I wasn't aware that stating a parent helped a child to get a job was an insult.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has brought shame and embarrassment on the McGuire family, it is not the media.
When I'm indicted for sex (or any other) crimes, my name will then be in the newspaper and will be fair game for any and all comments on blogs.
You will notice that if I am informed of any incorrect information, I immediately correct it (see Brandi Lee Campbell posts).
Again, if you have something positive to say about Keith McGuire (or rebuttal on any other topic), I will be happy to publish it as a guest column.
Another example. How do you know the job at the H2O department was barely enought to meet his needs? Where are you getting your information?

I am all for free speech and heaven knows the internet is in fact a great form "free speech" but in cases such as these, it's a crying shame that folks like you spew information for the WORLD to see while hiding behine a fake blog name.

ReplyDeleteI know enough about what the water department paid at that time, and probably still pays, from friends in the area. If you have any doubt, the salary of the director should be public knowledge. See how you think even the director's wages, much less those of an unskilled worker, compare with that of a tenured coach at an Alabama school. If the position paid well, why would McGuire have been looking for another teaching job? Oh, wait, we all know that, don't we?
I've asked you twice to offer a rebuttal column, but you apparently have no wish to do anything so productive. I suggest you start your own blog--there you may print whatever pops into your mind.
Why do you keep avoiding my questions? My whole point is for your LEAVE THE McGUIRE FAMILY ALONE!!! PERIOD!! I'M WARNING YOU! LEAVE THEM ALONE!

What about the McGuire Family? You again and again and again have plastered this very embarrasing situation for the whole world to see.

Anderon,..... I dont think her ID is of any importance here. Nor at this point viewing your posts do I think it is the smart thing to do. This is free press, whether you like it or not. And if the dad gave the son a job while on the commission, I would think that is an ethics violation.

ReplyDeleteYou must not be reading the same blog by Shoalanda. My point is this............let the family handle this in a private manner. It all likelihood Mr. McGuire is guilty. His family does not need these type Blogs re-hashing this negativism over and over and over.
Maybe you can tell me who Shoalanda is?
