City Arrests/Who's the Fantasist?

We have a developing story out of one of the Quad-Cities. We'll be publishing the unfortunate details at a later date, but until then we have a chance to answer a question we've often had.

What is the difference between a city arrest and a county arrest? There are probably many differences, including the codified name of the crimes in some instances. A person arrested on a misdemeanor in the police jurisdiction of a town will be booked into the municipal jail, assuming there is one. A person charged with a felony will be booked into the county jail.

No matter where booked, the arrestee is entitled to bail in 95% of the cases. These unfortunate individuals are also entitled to one phone call. All arrests are public record, for very good reason. We have many readers who don't seem to understand that last statement. Remember, these laws and practices are in place for very good reasons.

Over the years, we've developed several very reliable sources for information. Any information that we publish here in error, we are very happy both to correct and apologize for. Hopefully that is a very rare occurrence.

Now we have one valued source accusing a second of living in a fantasy world, or even worse. This first source says he has documented evidence of lies told by the second. If so, this is a serious problem. Yet we don't have the facts at our disposal to prove which friend/source is not what he seems.

Don't worry...we will. We will expose the pathological liar and apologize for ever using the information he has provided us. Stay tuned...
