Why Are Some Alleged Criminals Protected?

Many years ago, a local educator was arrested for a sex crime. There was no Internet, but the TimesDaily did publish arrests...if they were provided them by the various police departments. Alas, this deviant was allowed to go free on the condition he retire from the school system he had served for years.

Seven years ago, a local police officer on unpaid leave due to an unrelated crime was arrested for domestic violence. While his name appeared in various arrest lists, his photo did not. Why?

On October 13th, at 2:40 a.m., Florence police arrested a 49 year-old white male and charged him with First Degree Rape. His arrest didn't show up on the roster provided by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department (one must do a specific name search for Florence arrests to be listed). The alleged rapist's arrest did appear on a site which does not provide photos of any inmate.

We've been told that the alleged rapist is, like the long-ago educator, one who would be least suspected of such a crime. A name with photo should appear in a few days on other local sites, but for now the accused man is free to continue his life as if nothing has happened.

Welcome to the Shoals where not all are created equal...
