Muscle Shoals DOC Inmate Dead after Staton Altercation

 

Jabari Jaron Young was a 32 year-old Muscle Shoals High School graduate who was serving a 21 year sentence in the Alabama Department of Corrections Staton facility. He had been convicted in Colbert County in connection with a Burroughs Avenue vehicle shooting from a decade ago.

According to the DOC, on Saturday, December 28th, Young attacked a corrections officer at the Elmore County prison and had been placed in solitary confinement. His body was later discovered in the holding cell by an employee dispensing medications.

At this time, Young's death is under investigation. His funeral was today at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Muscle Shoals. Our sympathies to his family.
