The UNA Rape Problem

We're sure there are as many opinions of the University of North Alabama as there are students. Here's a current essay from the Flor-Ala:

I'm Transferring

While the article is extremely interesting in itself, it's one of the comments that's especially telling. Over and over, we read of rape victims being treated this way.

Note that it's not some lower class goon who's telling the victim it's her fault. It's a part of the administration who should be supportive of the university's students.

The rape victims aren't getting even lip service. What is wrong with a large part of society, especially our university?

  1. The UNA admin certainly sounds like it needs a 'Come to Jesus' meeting, but for the life of me I can't see that happening. I've been reading about issues such as this for years and nothing has been done to improve the situation.

  2. Well, where does it say in this "letter to the editor" that this girl said she was raped? It talks about how she could not get along with her roommate she was assigned to room with. When she threatened to hold her breath and turn blue, UNA housing administration didn't leap into action immediately. THE NERVE! It talked about how she had "made friends with some of the wrong people" When UNA police got involved and questioned her about her complaint, she was harassed and mistreated because only a "no contact" order was placed. AND, they had the NERVE to ask about her mental health! In short, this sounds exactly like the stereotypical privileged "zoomer" who lives in her own head and cannot deal with society in general. UNA hates you. Your NEW university will just LOVE you! Think the problem might be YOU?? BTW, welcome to the REAL world where things are not all roses and sunshine.......hold your breath and turn blue if you want to.

    1. Look at paragraph two - it mentions the comment on reader made about her daughter being raped.
