Go Fund Me for Sgt. Nick Risner's Family

If you would like to help the family of Sheffield police officer Sgt. Nick Risner in an honorable way, we suggest a contribution to this GoFundMe account. Sgt. Risner gave all for his community, and we now, unfortunately, have an opportunity to give back:

There have been many misconceptions about the previous sentence of Brian Martin who was convicted of manslaughter in 2012. Mr. Martin was denied parole on his one and only attempt. He ended his sentence after 40 months with time served and Correctional Incentive Time. This crime is very different from the one of which he is now charged, and we will be addressing it in a future blog.

Now the colorized version of one of your favorites:

  1. It's just hard to believe that you could murder someone (your dad), get manslaughter charges, get convicted to do ten years, and get out at the end of three years. Just curious, but since May 2016, what exactly has Martin been doing?

  2. It wasn't his "dad" but a biological relative. He had only known him for three years, and it was widely believed to be self-defense. The Scott man had a sword. As for the ten year sentence, it was offered by D.A. Bryce Graham. Martin owned rental properties as we understand it; he had no arrests.
