One must wonder how Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan expects the citizens of that town to respect the law when he so obviously does not. While he may overturn his DUI conviction in Lauderdale Circuit Court, it will be on a technicality, not because he's innocent. Not a very good example, is he?

We wish to correct a statement concerning Dr. William Roddy made in a recent blog. While Dr. Roddy has treated private Medicaid patients attending the Sara Dinsmore Center in Franklin County, he did not treat those who resided in Scope 310 group homes. We regret this error; Scope 310 (Shoals Cope for the Mentally Retarded) provides excellent services for their clients, and we encourage everyone to patronize their Blue Door Thrift Stores in Florence and Russellville.

After our recent column on The Blue Door Thrift store, a member of the Scope 310 board contacted us concerning the need for volunteers. Scope 310, sometimes referred to as Shoals Cope for the Mentally Retarded, is seeking 10 volunteers via the RSVP program.
If you are over 55 and interested in becoming a permanent volunteer for this worthwhile organization, please visit the RSVP office in the Lauderdale County Courthouse to apply in person. The need for such local volunteers may increase as the thrift store grows its business.
If you're not sure that you want to volunteer for this particular agency, you may wish to inquire about other volunteer needs at RSVP. This wonderful organization works with several agencies in the tri-county area and is a blessing to the many residents who use its services.

For those not familiar with Scope 310, this organization manages the programs for the mentally disabled in Lauderdale and Franklin Counties. Scope 310 is headquartered in the Florence Industrial Park on Helton Drive. Tuesday, February 3rd, marks the grand opening of Scope 310’s newest project, The Blue Door Thrift Store. Located in the rear of their complex, the store will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and for a half day on Saturdays.
This retail endeavor is not-for-profit, with all proceeds going to support Scope 310 projects. Whether you want to shop or just donate, don’t fail to check it out.
What's up with this: State Sen. Bobby Denton is pushing for the completion of the Wilson Dam Road project in Muscle Shoals. Everyone concerned (and that should be all of us) is urged to write Gov. Riley in support of Denton and this project.
