Ricky Pickett: Back in the Race

 

Ricky Pickett, retired engineer, has announced he's back in the Florence mayoral race. We're still seven weeks away from qualifying, so the contenders can still change, but at this point, we also have:

* Ron Tyler - Former FPD chief

* Bill Griffin - Current District 3 representative

* Billy Ray Simpson -  Minister/Activist

* Christian McCoy - Life Coach/Author

With five (or more) candidates, we see a runoff in Florence's future.

I am declaring as a candidate for Mayor of Florence. I grew up in Russellville, but call Florence home. First, I am retiring from NASA after 37 years. I will be 58 in March. 

In engineering, there is something we refer to as a transfer function. Inputs in, through, and then output. A mechanical example is a motor/gear system. Current in, torque out. In a municipality, more inputs, more outputs, and in the case of a trajectory, disturbances. 

Also, running a city, is similar to an investment manager, where your clients are the people of your city. I hope to put my technical mind, to work for the people of Florence.
