Brent Woodall: New Colbert Chief Deputy D.A.

Our good friend Brent Woodall has accepted the position of chief deputy district attorney for Colbert County. We can't think of anyone more deserving of this position and wish him the best.

However, we are sad to see him leave his private practice in Florence. On that note, David Bradley has moved into his new law office in the former digs of John Odem on East Tennessee Street. His contact information is in our new header. We hope you'll reach out to him when you need legal council.

It's almost spring, and that means spring break. If you're planning a trip out of town, there's no need to worry about your fur babies at home. Check out the contact for Bama Wags in our left sidebar and let them take care of your four-legged family. We promise you'll be happy!

As Election Nears, Another New Endorsement for Brent Woodall!

FORMER CANDIDATE FOR ALABAMA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION PLACE 1 STEPHEN McLAMB ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF BRENT WOODALL

On May 31st, former candidate for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 Stephen McLamb announced that he is endorsing Brent Woodall, currently a run-off candidate for the PSC Place 1 position.

Woodall said, “I am honored and thankful that Stephen has chosen to endorse me during this critical time of my campaign. While he and I were regularly appearing at different events across Alabama, I came to respect Stephen's commitment to bringing the necessary change that is needed in the Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 office. In fact, the goals of his campaign and mine were very similar - ensuring that utility rates paid by the citizens of Alabama are fair and reasonable. I remain dedicated to eliminating the hidden tax that burdens the ratepayers of the utilities regulated by the Public Service Commission; my opponent has had over nine years to do so and has failed. I will not. To ensure that hidden tax at the PSC is abolished, I need every conservative in Alabama to vote for Brent Woodall on June 21.”

McLamb responded by saying, “I first want to take the opportunity to thank all of my supporters in this race but now there are just two people left, Brent Woodall and the incumbent. I'm wholeheartedly supporting Brent Woodall for the Alabama Public Service Commission, Place 1 seat. I've watched as four people ran in this race but two of us saw taxes as a serious problem in the Public Service Commission. For Brent, it is a hidden tax. For me, it is a solar tax. Our campaigns ran on similar concerns. Secondly, Brent and I are deeply concerned about huge amounts of coal and special interest money flowing in this race to the incumbents that's organized by the coal miner's union. Labor unions have no place in Republican politics. The incumbent ran into the arms of the union and was financially rewarded. I refused to go ask them for money and Brent also refused. That tells me Brent's heart is in this race for all the right reasons and will bring a true voice of Conservative leadership to the Public Service Commission.”

The run-off for the Public Service Commission Place 1 will take place on June 21, 2022. Woodall has been endorsed by the Alabama Republican Assembly, Conservative Party Alabama, and the Common Sense Campaign. He also won a straw poll in Wetumpka conducted by Eagle Forum. Woodall is an attorney engaged in private practice and is a lifelong Republican who served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the 2016 National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Another Endorsement for Brent Woodall!

On May 13th, candidate for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 Brent Woodall announced that he has been endorsed by the Common Sense Campaign. The Common Sense Campaign is a grassroots movement whose goal is to restore our Constitutional Republic “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” The sample ballot on which Woodall's name was marked as part of the Common Sense Campaign's endorsement may be found on their website at: www.commonsensecampaign.org.

Woodall said, “I am very thankful to have been endorsed by the Common Sense Campaign. This is another in a growing list of endorsements I have received which demonstrate that true conservatives in Alabama recognize that the incumbent in the Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 seat is not a conservative and that I am. I ask every Republican in Alabama to vote for me on May 24 to ensure that we have the conservative we need in that office.”

Prior to this endorsement by the Common Sense Campaign, Woodall had also been endorsed by the Alabama Republican Assembly and Conservative Party Alabama. He also won a straw poll in Wetumpka conducted by Eagle Forum. Woodall is an attorney engaged in private practice and is a lifelong Republican who served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the 2016 National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Conservative Party Alabama Endorses Brent Woodall

BRENT WOODALL FOR PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION PLACE 1

Candidate for Public Service Commission Place 1 Brent Woodall announced Friday that he has been endorsed by Conservative Party Alabama for the Public Service Commission Place 1 seat. Conservative Party Alabama is comprised of true conservatives and its stated “mission is to promote and protect individual rights and freedoms as set forth in the United States Constitution, and to limit the scope of government ... .”

Woodall said, “I am thrilled to have been endorsed by Conservative Party Alabama. I am especially honored because, in making this endorsement, the members of Conservative Party Alabama made it clear that I am the candidate who first alerted them to the hidden tax that too many ratepayers in Alabama pay on their utility bills. As your Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 Commissioner, I am going to eliminate that hidden tax, something my opponent, a career-politician, has failed to do although he has been in that office for nearly a decade. The recognition of Conservative Party Alabama follows the endorsement I recently received from the Alabama Republican Assembly and my having won the straw poll conducted by Eagle Forum. These endorsements and that win demonstrate that conservatives in Alabama are coalescing around my campaign. This is the best opportunity that Alabama has had in years to bring about positive change at the Public Service Commission. I am going to continue to work hard to maintain the momentum our campaign has built and I ask every conservative Republican in Alabama to vote for me on May 24.”

Woodall is an attorney in private practice and is a lifelong Republican who proudly served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the 2016 National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Brent Woodall Receives Coveted Endorsement

Candidate for Public Service Commission Place 1 Brent Woodall announced today that he received the endorsement of the Alabama Republican Assembly at their endorsement convention today in Tuscaloosa. The Alabama Republican Assembly is a grassroots organization dedicated to small government, lower taxes, free market capitalism, a strong defense, the right to life, and the Constitution.

Woodall said, “I am both honored and humbled to have been endorsed by an organization as principled as the Alabama Republican Assembly. Its members are conservatives who recognize the need to have those holding office respect the constitution and the proper role of government. In order to win their endorsement I had to explain my platform and make myself available to answer their questions regarding my plans for the Public Service Commission.

This process clearly demonstrates how seriously the members of the Alabama Republican Assembly approach their job of identifying those candidates who most closely align with their political philosophy. My recent victory in the Eagle Forum straw poll in Wetumpka combined with this endorsement from the Alabama Republican Assembly shows that momentum is on my side as I seek to win the Republican nomination for the Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 seat. It is time to remove the RINO currently occupying that position and I ask all conservative Republicans in Alabama for their vote in the primary on May 24.”

Woodall is a lifelong Republican who has served on the Morgan County Republican Executive Committe and the Elmore County Republican Executive Committee. He also chaired the Morgan County Young Republicans and was the State Treasurer of the Young Republican Federation of Alabama. In 2016 he proudly served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Brent Woodall Wins Eagle Forum Straw Poll

From April 20th:

Candidate for Public Service Commission Place 1 Brent Woodall announced today that he won the straw poll conducted at the Eagle Forum River Region Candidate Fair held in Wetumpka last evening. Woodall said,

“I am particularly happy to have won this straw poll because it was conducted in a setting in which all of my competitors for this seat were present and the attendees had the opportunity to personally speak with each of us before casting their vote. I was glad that I was able to talk with so many from the River Region and let them know about the hidden tax scam at the Public Service Commission and the real effect it has on the lives of so many people in Alabama. It is also very rewarding to have won this straw poll because it was taken at an event held by Eagle Forum, one of the leaders of the conservative movement since its founding by Phyllis Schlafly in 1972. The results of the poll demonstrate that Alabamians recognize the need to elect conservatives at all levels of government and that I am the conservative Alabama needs as its Public Service Commission Place 1 commissioner. The fact that the incumbent, a career politician who has held the seat far too long, failed to win this poll speaks volumes about the lack of confidence voters have in him. I ask all Republicans to vote for a true conservative and elect me as the Public Service Commission Place 1 commissioner on May 24.”

Woodall is a lifelong Republican who has served on the Morgan County Republican Executive Committe and the Elmore County Republican Executive Committee. He also chaired the Morgan County Young Republicans and was the State Treasurer of the Young Republican Federation of Alabama. In 2016, he was honored to have served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Are You Aware of This Hidden PSC Tax?

Before anyone criticizes the country of Ukraine for being corrupt, we suggest they consider the State of Alabama. Yes, there's corruption in all government. Let's thoroughly research the candidates in the May 24th primary. Here's an interesting press release that should make you realize just how important the Public Service Commission is and how it may currently be stealing your money. If you want to rid the state of this particular tax scam, we suggest you vote for the honest and qualified candidate.

During the Ronald Reagan dinner in Double Springs this past Saturday night, I told those in attendance about the hidden tax scam my opponent supports at the Public Service Commission. That hidden tax scam is the mechanism by which the PSC causes the utilities it regulates to charge their customers more for their utility bills and then, after receiving the excess money from the utilities, the PSC sends it, not back to the customers of the utilities, but to the general fund where it is mixed in with legitimate tax revenues. There it is spent on projects from which the customers of the utilities may never benefit and in parts of Alabama they may never visit. I also told the people at the dinner that the only RINO we need in Montgomery is the one at the zoo.

Following the dinner, my opponent, who had been present during my talk, asked me, “What tax are you talking about? We don't tax nobody.” He wasn't upset about having been called a RINO, most likely because he recognizes that he is one. He was upset that I was the one who had to educate him about the hidden tax scam he has repeatedly supported with his votes. My opponent has been a member of the Public Service Commission for over nine years and it wasn't until Saturday night that he gained an understanding about how his votes impact the citizens of Alabama. His ignorance is shocking and should not be tolerated by the voters of our state.

His repeated votes in support of the hidden tax scam have taken tens of millions of dollars from the customers of those utilities. That is money that the hard-working citizens of our state could use to feed and clothe their children, put gasoline in their gas tanks, and set aside some money for their retirement. But they can't use their money for those purposes because my opponent took it from them. They thought that they were paying their utility bill when they were actually paying a hidden tax my opponent imposed on them.

Alabama can do better than this. Alabama must do better than this. As a conservative Republican, I will never vote to impose a hidden tax on Alabama's citizens. I will never cast a vote without understanding the impact that vote will have on the people of our great state. But I can't do it without you. I need your vote to put an end to this hidden tax scam. Vote Brent Woodall for Public Service Commission Place 1 on May 24th!

Latest Press Release from Brent Woodall

Florence attorney Brent Woodall has announced his candidacy for the Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1 seat. Woodall served as a prosecutor with both the Alabama Attorney General's office and the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama before becoming a chief-of-staff at the Public Service Commission, where he learned about how valuable the Commission is to the people of the State of Alabama. He is also a lifelong Republican, having served on the Morgan County Republican Executive Committee and the Elmore County Republican Executive Committee in addition to having led the Morgan County Young Republicans and serving as the State Treasurer of the Young Republican Federation of Alabama. In 2016 he was honored to have served as a delegate for President Donald Trump at the National Republican Convention in Cleveland, OH.

Woodall said, “I am the conservative who can bring about the changes that are needed in the office of Public Service Commission Place 1. Because I spent several years serving the State of Alabama as the chief-of-staff for a commissioner at the Public Service Commission, I understand what those changes are and why they are needed.

“My opponent is a career politician who, throughout his time in the offices he has held, has repeatedly failed the citizens of Alabama and, just as often, proven himself to be a RINO rather than a conservative. Just last month, he told two people in Madison that the Public Service Commission doesn't do anything. Maybe he misspoke and should have said simply that HE doesn't do anything at the Public Service Commission. Or maybe, because he doesn't spend enough time at his office, he simply doesn't know that the merit system employees at the Public Service Commission do work very hard and serve this state well.

“I pledge to the people of Alabama that, when I am elected as their Public Service Commission Place 1 commissioner, I will go to work, that I will keep my office adequately staffed, and that I will never vote for a tax that is hidden from the people who paid it. A lot of people don't know this but the Public Service Commission does not receive tax money from Alabama's General Fund; it is funded by money paid by the companies it regulates for the privilege of being regulated. Far too frequently, the Public Service Commission requires those utilities to pay more than is needed. When that happens, the money is often given, not back to the people who overpaid on their utility bills, but rather to the Alabama legislature that then places it in the General Fund where it is combined with money received from taxes collected from citizens throughout our state. That money is then spent in parts of Alabama on projects which will never be enjoyed by the ratepayers from whom it was received. No conservative would ever approve such a hidden taxation scam but my opponent regularly does so. I will never vote to take from the ratepayers of the utilities regulated by the Public Service Commission their hard-earned money and convert it to uses for which it was not collected. Although my opponent has had years to stop this hidden tax scam he has failed to do so; I will do what he has been unable or unwilling to accomplish.”

Woodall had, for several months, traveled the state speaking about the Office of State Auditor as he contemplated running for that office. Over a week before the qualifying period ended, however, he was contacted about running for the Place 1 seat at the Public Service Commission. Woodall had known from his time at the Public Service Commission that a change was needed in that position and, after seeking counsel from conservative Republicans he respects and praying about his decision, decided to offer himself as a candidate for that office.

If anyone would like to support Woodall, they can contact his campaign at Post Office Box 740594, Tuscumbia, AL 35674 or by telephone at (334) 590-3388.

We know Mr. Woodall personally and can think of no better candidate for this office. We always encourage readers to do their own homework; we believe you'll come to agree with us that Brent is the candidate for the people of this state.

New Race for Brent Woodall

One of our favorite sayings is: If you see a need, fill it! That's what Florence attorney Brent Woodall is now doing in the Public Service Commission Place 1 race.

Brent had originally planned a run for state auditor; however, he has an extensive work history with the Public Service Commission and feels this is where he can do the most good for our state. We'll be having more about the race at a later date, but wanted all Republican voters to be aware of the change.

The primary will be held May 24th, so mark your calendars to vote...and to make the right choice with Brent Woodall!

Brent Woodall & a Church of God Preacher

The race for Alabama State Auditor has added two new contenders. Originally from Decatur, attorney Brent Woodall has spent most of his adult life in Montgomery, but moved to the Shoals to take over the law practice of retiring Billy Underwood. Woodall seems universally liked and will make an interesting addition to the race.

Also chiming in is a Church of God preacher called Stan Cooke. As of now, Cooke is quite the outlier. Well, it is Alabama.

Others are predicted to join the fray in the next few weeks. Jackie Zeigler, wife of current Auditor Jim Zeigler, is the name most mentioned.
