The debate has now begun in earnest on the possibility of a Leo IV for the University of North Alabama. It seems that as many are opposed as are supportive. Here's a few facts to clarify some misconceptions:
* The lion habitat will be doubled in size.
* As with Leo & Una, there will be a brother/sister for companionship.
* The pair will be raised by hand for the first two years.
* The purchase will not affect wild lion population (The pair will be in this country no matter who purchases them).
* The cost of upkeep is paid for by private donations (Read: Tuition will not go up to purchase the pair).

We're seeing a lot of commenters on this issue who claim to be "alumni." We once had a female reader who claimed she was taught at Muscle Shoals High that this was correct - hardly:
One male graduate - Alumnus
Two or more male grads - Alumni
One female grad - Alumna
Two or more female grads - Alumnae
Like it or lump it, it's Latin so male and female are separate. For general purposes, all grads are lumped under the umbrella of "alumni," but one person is never an alumni.
