Quinn's Ranch Deer Hunt

I recently reported that Quinn's ranch was sponsoring a January 2009 deer hunt for its charges--homeless, problem, and orphaned youths. Apparently, this is not the case. The deer hunt, scheduled for the 3rd of next month, does not involve the youths themselves, but adults who wish to participate at $50.00 an entry.

It seems that one, if licensed and acting within the laws of whatever area one wishes to hunt, may pay the fee and enter the bodies of one buck, one doe, and one pair (hopefully a mated couple so as to cut down on the deer population and avoid retribution from surviving spouses--I think someone made a video game out of that scenario).

The press release makes mention of the family fun at the end of the day when the dead animals are weighed in. Ah, yes, family fun in Red Bay apparently isn't what it used to be. Just remember: The family that kills together makes a lifetime of memories for those long, cold prison stays to come.

It seems Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing is on the board at Quinn's Ranch, advertised as "faith based," perhaps in Cthulhu or the Nazi Party--who knows? You may remember Joey Rushing is quoted prominently on the web site DumpYourWifeNow.com. Nuff said.

What's up with this: Medicaid, not famous for its expedient use of taxpayer money, is now rating local nursing homes. If you or a loved one should need the services of such local endeavors, remember to check the credentials of those doing the rating--it may surprise you.

In response to the comment, the article referenced is from April 2007--"Will Pimp for Pizza." While I infer Mr. Rushing feels any publicity is good publicity, a self-proclaimed Methodist minister and elected official would do well to steer clear of such sites (He knows it's there, he's been informed before). Franklin County has had only too many scalawag pols and police officers in its recent past. Neither Rushing nor Chris Hargett is setting a good example.

  1. I looked at the link you gave that was supposed to show Joey Rushing being "prominently featured" on DumpYourWifeNow.com but didn't see anything... I think your information must be wrong.

  2. I have close contact with Quinn's Ranch Children's Home and would just like to elaborate on the Quinn's Ranch Hunt; it is called a fundraiser. Each hunter who would like to participate purchases a ticket for $50.00. Every penny of this money goes to help each child in this "Faith Centered" home. Not only that, each "Dead" deer weighed in is donated to "Feed The Hungry." It is very sad that an individual would take the time to try and hurt the reputation of a program set up to help reach children with the love of Christ.

  3. To Christcenteredhome: I was reared in a home truly centered on living a Christ-like life, and neither my father nor my mother ever brought having fun with dead animals into the mix.

As I recently read in a post by a friend of mine: some individuals make family memories by slaugtering helpless animals, while others make family memories by bottle feeding orphaned squirrels. I know which I prefer.

  4. Being raised in a Christ-Centered home means being kind to those around you. I don't think setting up a blog degrading everyone around you portrays any Christ-like attributes. Some people do in fact feel that deer hunting is cruel, and everyone is entitled to their opinion; But let us keep our eyes on the goal - These children need love, and that's what they are getting by being in this home. I have witnessed that personally. God Bless.

  5. Sir or Madam:

If one used that theory, we could use prostitutes to earn funds for Christian causes, just as Catholics today use gambling.

Remember, it's only a sport if the animals have guns with which to shoot back.

  6. It's taken me a while to get back on here, but I believe that if you are going to proclaim to be a "serious writer" or "journalist" or whatever it is you refer to yourself as, then you need to hold to principles every respectable writer aspires to: giving true, factual information that will edify the reader, not lead the reader astray or cause confusion. You said that Joey Rushing was "featured prominently" on DumpYourWifeNow.com... To me, that makes it sound like he's giving out advice on how to dump your wife or that he has a major column on the subject. But it's NOT THAT AT ALL! The only thing about Joey Rushing on DumpYourWifeNow.com is an article taken from the WAFF news (which it references) about a defendant Mr. Rushing prosecuted. He was quoted in that article, but he was commenting on THAT CASE... NOT anything to do with dumping your wife. You must really have something against Rushing if you are going to be that pathetic and misleading to make your readers think he is "prominently featured" on such a trashy website. Real writers have more integrity than to post garbage like that based on childish grudges and misleading information.

  7. I have never met Mr. Rushing. I think the article he allowed the website to reprint was in poor taste. I would not wish to be associated in any way with a website named dumpyourwifenow.com.

  8. I have never met Mr. Rushing. I simply feel it was in bad taste to allow the article on pimping to be published in dumpyourwifenow.com.
I understand there is a Mrs. Rushing; how do you think she feels?

  9. She probably thinks you're pathetic for pointing it out when the article had nothing to do with him, his wife, or anyone being dumped! That trashy website is just someone ranting about things they disgree with or find shocking, among other things. (Which is kind of similar to this blog... interesting parallel. Makes me wonder how you knew about that ridiculous website in the first place...) All you're trying to do is stir up trouble because you obviously have some sort of weird grievance with Rushing. That's the only explanation I can think of that would make someone act like such a child. And what made you think the article was reprinted on that ridiculous website with Rushing's knowledge?? Did you personally call him up and ask him about it? I'm pretty sure that when you are quoted for a story by a source, they don't call and ask your permission for that story to be published elsewhere. But most "serious" writers know that, so I guess I shouldn't fault you for not knowing.
