Alabama Number One in Death Sentences

Alabama is number one in few things. If our state is ever at the top of any list, you can bet that it's almost always in a negative way.

Latest data show that our sweet home is tops in death row inmates per capita. While we're close to the top in murders, we're not quite there...yet. That makes it appear that our judges and juries are hardy supporters of capital punishment.

As more and more states abolish the death penalty, this "right to life" state is anything but. Take Casey Cole White. Why is the murder of Connie Ridgeway a Capital crime?

If it's only due to the fact that it's a murder for hire, shouldn't Lauderdale detectives be actively searching for the man who supposedly hired Casey? Why is Lauderdale footing the bill for two murder trials? Simply hold the trial for Mrs. Ridgeway's death; if White is found guilty, there's no need to hold the second trial.

Hey, it's only the taxpayers' money...

  1. Just wait until the real story comes out in court! Chris Connelly overcharged this and when Casey's hot shot Huntsville lawyers produce the letters rumored to exist that Casey received from Vicky while at Donaldson correctional center, it will blow up everything. Vicky supposedly masterminded the whole "confess to murder so you can get transferred to Lauderdale county" with DETAILS of the crime scene in her letters. Maybe the poor Ridgeway boy's will demand that Lauderdale county quit "covering up" the murder of their mother and the corruption of the sheriff's department with this sham trial and go to work to find their mother's actual killer. I hope some enterprising Huntsville TV station reporter will do their homework and expose what REALLY went on at the Lauderdale County jail under Rick Singleton. The "local" newspaper certainly knows all about it but either from fear or "favor"; the newspaper stays silent about the corruption. From an "escort service" to a "crack house"; the jail is said by some former inmates and current and former employees to have it ALL!. And the DA's office appears to just help cover it all up with smoke and mirror charges and trials (eg: Chip Dillard human trafficing not guilty trial). The band plays on as long as Lauderdale county citizens stay blissfully stupid and refuse to demand better. And not by just electing a new sheriff! Chris Connelly ran UNOPPOSED. (but he did have the required (R) by his name!) Why be accountable when nobody is demanding accountability? It seems credibility has "left the building"
