Tuscumbia Organization Had One Black Face - the "Help"

Twelve years ago, nine women from Tuscumbia founded the Tuscumbia Retail Development group to promote and foster business in that Colbert County town. All of the women appear to be white.

Did no male or African-American retailers wish to participate in this non-profit group in 2010? It would seem that over a decade later, there are still no black members in this organization, or at least none who attended their annual Christmas party at Locust Hill.

The group's Facebook page does include one photo of an African-American at the gala. He appears to be the caterer. Many who attended the party wore fancy dress; we're guessing left over from the Dickens Christmas event. Thank goodness there were no Southern belles in hoop skirts.

The best takeaway we can offer is that at least no tarot card readers were invited...
