The City of Florence is composed of six districts. This year, each of these districts is contested. Let's look at who's the best for the city:
District 1 - Kaytrina P. Simmons. Ms. Simmons has been in office for four years and worked tirelessly for the district. Let's go forward, not backward. Vote for Ms. Simmons in District 1.
District 2 - John D. Bowen. The current council member Dick Jordan has been in office since Shoalanda was in high school. No, that wasn't a joke. It would be different if he actually responded to the needs of the citizens; however, he does not. Vote Bowen in District 2.
District 3 - Matthew F. Sufczinski. Unfortunately, David Bradley chose not to seek re-election. We believe Mr. Sufczinski is the person to replace David on the council. He has stood up against the Salvation Army in the past and will continue to stand up for District 3.
District 4 - Michelle Rupe Eubanks. Mrs. Eubanks has consistently pushed for the betterment of her district during the past four years. We can't think of an i not dotted or a t not crossed. Vote Mrs. Eubanks in District 4.
District 5 - Thomas Spence. Mr. Spence is a fresh voice in Florence politics. The city needs active council members, not chair sitters. Support Mr. Spence in District 5.
District 6 - Jimmy Oliver. There is no incumbent in this race. Both candidates have positive qualities; however, Oliver is a strong supporter of the Florence shelter and social work for those who have no voice of their own. Vote Mr. Oliver in District 6.
Bonus for the day: Looking over various political rants in this election, we suggest many need to look up...
1. The definition of the word "apostle."
2. The correct usage of "alumnus, alumna, and alumni."
That is unless you're actually trying to sound illiterate.
