Why is the City of Florence Presenting a Pagan Ritual? - Part I

The Yule Log - An Ancient Pagan Custom

How many of you are familiar with an organization called CORE? We're guessing very few since the non-profit's Facebook page boasts only eight followers. Just what is CORE?

From its FB page: The mission of the C.O.R.E. Center is to honor all beings of divine expression through love, truth, and integrity and maintain an environment of conscious co-creation with the Divine.

If any readers want to know what "conscious co-creation" may be...good luck!

This organization has offices in Muscle Shoals and sponsors some interesting events, not to mention using the description "grocery store" on its FB page. Its director is Deborah A. Carter, a naturopath. Don't confuse a naturopath with an allopath or osteopath, the two main types of physicians in the U.S.

From Dr. Carter's online bio:

Dr. Deborah Carter is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in private Practice at the Shoals Natural Healthcare Center located in Muscle Shoals, AL. Her specialty is internal family natural medicine. Over the past 16 years, Dr. Carter has given lectures and workshops to groups and organizations in the area and state on complementary/alternative and preventive medicines. She also coordinate a biannual Natural Detoxification Program for the community and is founder and director of the CORE Center which is a nonprofit human potential center. Dr. carter’s education background: Talladega College, (B.A.-Chemistry), Auburn University,(M.S.-Medicinal Chemistry, and National College of Naturopathic Medicine,(N.D.-Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.)

That's certainly an impressive resume'; however, most will find some of the treatments offered in her practice just a little too out there. Feel the need for a healing crystal light bed?

That would certainly be up to you. Your money, your choice of treatments or activities. How about when it's taxpayer money? Did you know that CORE is listed as a "partner" in events with a City of Florence endeavor?

How do you feel about a pagan ritual on public property?

Tomorrow: Welcoming the Winter Solstice at the Indian Mound Museum.

  1. Our 'Christmas trees' have their origin in pagan rituals, as do some of our Halloween and Easter 'festivities'.

  2. Naturopathic Doctors should not all be dismissed as quacks. I can personally attest to several local ‘real’ doctors who don’t have a clue about curing people unless it’s textbook simple, or you tell them what’s wrong. They’re awfully proud of that diploma on their wall, but ask them about nutrition, or how to use Herbs (you know....those things that used to be called “Medicine”) and they look at you like they’ve been struck by lightening. I once knew a highly-credentialed “Pediatric Immunologist” - impressive title, huh ? She was also dumber than a rock. One time several years ago, while out with some friends for Mexican food, I ordered Guacamole. She started ranting about how terrible avocados were for you...”full of terrible fat...”. After laughing, I told her what types of fat were in the avocados, how incredibly good they are for you and asked her how much Nutritional training she had in her 8 years of Med School. Answer: 1 day. A week later, at the same restaurant, she was ordering Guacamole for everyone, telling them how nutritious it was. Ah, hypocrites.... Gotta love ‘em.

Back to Naturopathic Doctors. Are any of you aware that since 2015, there has been an epidemic of Naturopathic Doctors being killed off ? They’ve been reported as suicides, but with gunshots to the chest, flying out of high-rise building windows and unexplainable car crashes, people began to see a pattern. Ehhh, that’s just a few people, you say ? How ‘bout 60 dead between 2015-2017 alone. The deadly trend continues to this day. Now, ask yourself who loses if people discover how they can make their bodies stronger through good food and natural supplements. Big Pharma ? You betcha. Are there Snake-oil selling Naturopathic Phonies out there ? Again, you betcha, but.... there are also good ingredients and methods that can help people - people who have given up on the ‘Diploma-Walled’, White-Coated, so-called experts.

We need to be very very careful who we label as “Fake”. Those who bow down to the popular ‘Experts’ in today’s Upside-Down World, will someday realize they have been duped and their loved ones murdered. Meantime, let’s not burn the wrong folks at the stake. Just sayin’.

  3. Another thought, Shoalanda....People are quick to ridicule Crystals as something ‘new age-ie’ and weird, all while ignorant of the intense study of crystals going on in our own Military-Industrial Complex ......also known as Weaponry. Yes, there are complex and complicated properties to crystals, just as there are similar properties to ‘Gemstones’. Both natural and synthetic Gems (you know...crystals) have been used for decades in Laser Weapons and continue to be (quietly) developed and studied today for use on land and in Outer Space.

Maybe people need to do some research to understand that there is more going on than we will ever know. Those properties of Crystals may very well be as useful for ‘healing’ as they are for destruction. Be careful what you ridicule - it might come back to bite you.
