Danny Pettus to Look into ECM Land Sale

Several of our readers have communicated that they contacted Lauderdale County Commission Chairman Danny Pettus concerning the sale of the former Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital property. According to reports, Mr. Pettus will investigate the origins of this sudden sale. The Tuesday Florence City Council agenda was unexpectedly modified shortly before the meeting to include the vote to approve the real estate transaction. 

It's also come to light that the introduction of the sale violated several city promises to residents of McFarland Heights who wished to be made aware of plans for the property adjoining theirs. Oh, well, as Dr. Tim Melson once said, politicians change their minds and the rules quite often.

At this point, all we can say is thank God that Andy Betterton and Dick Jordan weren't as successful in their nefarious plan as was Rep. Lynn Greer in stealing the vote of Florence citizens.
