Support Alabama House Bill 31

The citizens of Alabama were promised in 2019 that if its anti-abortion bill ever became legal, an exception would be made for rape. The bill became enforceable two years ago, but so far the state legislature has failed to keep its promise.

Now we have a chance to add rape as an exception to state law banning the procedure. Rep. Anthony Daniel has introduced House Bill 31, and it's now in the House Health Committee:

House Bill 31

According to a 2023 poll, only 12% of Alabamians support a total ban on induced abortion, while 55% supported it being legal in all instances. Most of us fall into the category of supporting it being legal in the case of rape. Now is the chance to enact this exception into law. Contact your state representatives now:

Yesterday we discussed the Walgreens location in North Florence on Wood Avenue. We've determined the rumor of its closing is true - it's posted on the store's front entrance that February 22nd will be its last day. Prescriptions from that store will be transferred to the Florence Boulevard pharmacy.

We haven't heard anything about the other area Walgreens at this time. It's sad to lose the North Florence store since so many celebrated the company taking over the former CVS location. Perhaps we'll get a new check cashing business?
