Homeless in Sheffield? Good Luck with That...

Before the Sunrise Center, there was the Pilgrim House on Second Street in Sheffield. Operating roughly between 1999 and 2001, thanks to the best efforts of Sheffield and Montgomery, it was shut down.

Now the Sunrise Center is closing. According to one source, mayor Steve Stanley has denied any part in the closure and further stated he had not heard of the center's demise until the director was terminated and contacted him about the abusive actions of the Sheffield Police Department.

Now, of course, there's no more homeless in Sheffield. Just ask John Elkington. Isn't that how it works?

How's Inspiration Landing coming along? How about the search for a new building inspector? Oh, you hadn't heard? Charlie Grimmett has resigned. And no one in Sheffield wept...

  1. Re: Sheffield Code Enforcement: 'Sheffield's gain is Decatur's loss.' How anyone could make a 'successful' career out of NOT doing one's job is beyond me. Sheffield is overflowing with unkempt yards, derelict vehicles, illegal dumps, and run-down properties. Oh, and don't forget the downtown businesses that were run off.
