TO: ALL PERSONS, FIRMS, AND CORPORATIONS in the Following Police Jurisdictions

 



The (below) listed municipalities failed to file an annual report required by §11-51-91(c), Ala. Code 1975. Therefore, all municipalities listed (below) are statutorily prohibited from collecting any license revenue, taxes, or fees in their respective police jurisdictions. This prohibition is effective as of June 1, 2023, which is 60 days from the date the Alabama Department of Revenue was provided notice of the rate change due to the failure to file the annual report:

Courtland

Hackleburg

Leighton
 
North Courtlland

Rogersville

Sheffield

Waterloo

The largest town listed above is Sheffield. While that municipality is landlocked on three sides, surely it was raking in some money on the western side. How about Rogersville?

This is just a matter of sloppy accounting and not taking care of business. Perhaps some of these towns, i.e. Rogersville, could afford to lose the funds, but Sheffield?!!!
