Live in Lauderdale? Shelter Charity Begins at Home!

By now you've probably heard of the latest controversy to darken the reputation of the Colbert County animal shelter. We're not here to decide how much is true or not. We do know there's a new set of allegations almost every week, and this does nothing to help the shelter's reputation.

In Lauderdale? You'll hear no such accounts on the north side of the river. Sure, the shelter needs more money and the county commission needs to do its part, but no reports of missing food/supplies or animal abuse.

There are shelters all over the world. You can't help them all. Do you want to help a shelter where supplies/donations never make it to the animals or do you want to help one where you're sure these helpless animals are taken care of to the best of everyone's ability? That was a rhetorical question - the answer should be obvious!

The Florence-Lauderdale shelter currently needs:

Paper towels

Cat toys

Dog toys

Treats

Blankets

Electrolite fluids

Liquid bleach

Cat litter

You can order on Amazon and have delivered to: 3240 Robertson Road, Florence, AL 35630.

(We'll revisit this issue when the Colbert shelter is under new management.)

After our blogger's remark concerning a local entertainer's balance on a Florence domestic violence conviction, we've been asked what is the minimum before a warrant is issued for non-payment. If anyone has the answer or more information on the procedures in cases like these, please contact us.
