Corey Speegle Should Copy Joe Roach

Everyone remembers Joe Roach, right? No? Then let us refresh your memory.

When Regional Care purchased the Coffee Health Group, they brought in Joe Roach to run the show. Joe was by all accounts brilliant, hard working, and an asset to the company. That is except for the fact that no one really liked him. When Helen Keller Hospital was opposing Florence's new state-of-the-art hospital and cancer center, its employees carried around cans of roach spray to make Keller's point. Roach, like Tim Melson, didn't exactly have a way with words or put the best face on the Florence hospital.

After a short 16 months, Roach resigned. No official reason was ever given, but almost everyone knew that most people couldn't stand him.

Now we have Charles Corey Speegle. Few like him, and many have absolute horror stories about the man. The latest? He unlawfully entered a Tuscumbia woman's home while no one was present and confiscated her dog. Unless the dog owned an assault rifle and was threatening to shoot up Petco, we can't see how anyone would support this. What if the woman now says her priceless diamond necklace is also missing?

Speegle is only at the shelter because a certain county commissioner didn't want to give Anthony Wilbanks the job as director. Mr. Wilbanks may not be the most tactful with his words, but he was qualified, got the job done legally, and always put the animals first.

It's time for anyone who says he wants what's best for the Colbert Shelter actually to do what's best for it...
