A recent blog presented a video of the most recent public safety committee meeting in Florence. We wish to thank David Carson and his project to make these videos available to the public. That does not mean that we agree totally with the manner in which Mr. Carson has handled past events in which he has been involved.
Carson has been portrayed as a "California Nazi." First, while Carson has resided in the Sunshine State, he's a native of this area. Neither is he a Nazi, but a right ring political activist.
Along with the video, Mr. Carson has sent us a copy of a speech he was not allowed to give at the public safety meeting referenced. In this letter, he specifically mentions Project Say Something and their erstwhile board member Brian Murphy. Murphy is currently an employee of the City of Florence and is pictured above impersonating Carson in what we understand he calls performance art.
Like Carson, we know very little about Murphy; however, we do know that he has been known to style himself as an "adjunct professor" at the University of North Alabama. Those among us with a modicum of education know that there is no such thing as an adjunct professor. Here is how UNA describes him:
Tomorrow we'll present David Carson's letter to the Public Safety Committee...
IF Mr. Murphy is a 'professor' at UNA he must have an Alabama teaching certificate and such is a matter of public record. You can search his certification status at ALSDE.
