Richie Whorton - A Swimming Pool Salesman from Madison County
Tommy Hanes - A Firefighter from Jackson County
Ronnie Whorton and Tommy Hanes are currently sponsoring HB 278. The bill proposes a lot of "freedoms" for state citizens, but what does it do at the very worst?
The bottom line is that no business in the state can refuse to hire you, nor can they fire you, if you don't receive vaccinations that most normal individuals see the value in.
This bill would prohibit an employer from 10 taking adverse action against an employee based on 11 the employee's immunization status. 12 This bill would prohibit an occupational 13 licensing board from denying, suspending, revoking, 14 or refusing to renew or reinstate a license for the 15 holder of, or applicant for, a license issued by 16 that board because of the immunization status of 17 that license holder or applicant.
Let's consider this scenario from May 2023:
Jenny is 25 and expecting her first child. She's had her vaccinations, but her immune system is weak. Her physician places her in NAMC overnight for some tests. Kasey is 23, a UNA graduate, and dedicated RN. She comes from an anti-vaxxer home and has never had any inoculations. Thanks to current law in Alabama, this is no impediment to her career.
Kasey was feeling feverish on the day Jenny was admitted to NAMC, but she decided to work since the hospital was short staffed. She worked closely with Jenny and spent extra time with her in hopes of reassuring her. The next morning Jenny left the hospital not knowing that Kasey had called in sick with a fever and rash later identified as German Measles.
Two weeks later, Jenny developed the same symptoms. Seven months later, Jenny's child was born deaf and mentally challenged, the victim of Congenital Rubella Syndrome.
Is this what you want for our state?
I'm a high school Science teacher. Based on my personal RESEARCH, I am not comfortable with taking ANY of the current COVID vaccines. This is an EDUCATED decision on MY part.
ReplyDeleteThe standards must be pretty low to be a science teacher these days.
ReplyDeleteAhhh. We have a comedian. Or is it a smartass? Nah. First rule to being a smartass is to be smart. You blew that one. I guess that leaves you being just a plain ASS.
