District II in the Alabama House of Representatives covers all of Limestone County and the Rogersville/Anderson area of Lauderdale County. The recent primary involved four candidates. The official numbers indicate only five (5) votes separating the second and third place candidates.
Now several people have come forward to say some of the correct ballots for District II at the Rogersville/Anderson polling places were switched to ballots for District I. While we don't know if this could have affected the District 1 results, it could easily have affected the results in District II.
How could this have happened? That we don't know; however, several theories have been circulating. If things go as planned, the official contest of the results will be filed by 5:00 p.m. today.
If you voted in the Rogersville/Anderson area and feel that you were given the wrong ballot, you need to contact Judge Will Motlow. We trust him to sort matters and bring any needed charges if this was not an accident.
