Sign Petition on AL House District 2 Election

Can the absolute boondoggle that was the Republican primary in State House District 2 be repaired? We'll never know unless we try.

Kimberly Butler is asking voters to sign the petition for election integrity in District 2:

We trust Judge Will Motlow to make sure this type of ballot error does not happen a second time. In the interim, we need to do what we can to correct the current situation.

Additionally, we urge everyone to write in Kimberly Butler on November 8th.

Judge Will Motlow Blames "Simple Human Error" for Lauderdale Election SNAFU

The conclusion of a brief examination into the District 2 race in Lauderdale County is that 67 to 70 voters received the wrong ballot and actually voted in the District 1 race. Lauderdale County is the home to Kimberly Patterson Butler who lost a place in the runoff by an official count of 14 votes. Is this democracy as we know or at least expect it?

Now Mrs. Butler will file an official election contest. We've very interested in where this will go.

According to Judge Will Motlow, the situation was simple human error. He now has a plan to avoid this in future by investing in some electronic technology now available.

The error also affected the District 1 vote, but the number of votes was not enough to make any difference in the outcome. Perhaps we should be grateful for small favors?

At least we're not in the Lee County area where the vote of an unregistered person has been certified. It seems she intended to register, but didn't complete the process. Perhaps many of us have new hope of that doctorate in basket weaving since we've always intended to complete it?

Alabama District 2 House Race to be Contested

District II in the Alabama House of Representatives covers all of Limestone County and the Rogersville/Anderson area of Lauderdale County. The recent primary involved four candidates. The official numbers indicate only five (5) votes separating the second and third place candidates.

Now several people have come forward to say some of the correct ballots for District II at the Rogersville/Anderson polling places were switched to ballots for District I. While we don't know if this could have affected the District 1 results, it could easily have affected the results in District II.

How could this have happened? That we don't know; however, several theories have been circulating. If things go as planned, the official contest of the results will be filed by 5:00 p.m. today.

If you voted in the Rogersville/Anderson area and feel that you were given the wrong ballot, you need to contact Judge Will Motlow. We trust him to sort matters and bring any needed charges if this was not an accident.
