Several readers have contacted us since the one-man police department of Anderson retired. According to reports, the mayor decided to rely on random Lauderdale County deputy patrolling for law enforcement. Crime has increased, and many citizens have fallen victim to what they're calling meth fueled thefts.
We're told the homes are too far apart to make a neighborhood watch successful. The sheriff's office says deputies are not allocated full time unless the town pays. Welcome to Dodge City?
We're going to publish a more in depth blog on crime in Anderson in a few weeks. If you've been the victim of a burglary or vandalism in Anderson, get in touch with us. Once all the reports of these shenanigans are in one place, perhaps the town government will be willing to cough up the funds to ensure the county patrols the area on a dedicated basis.
You are a idiot ,I am posted in Anderson full time and the crime rate is lower than it has in years. Do your research before you post and look like a fool.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you have three arguments here, and two are simply name calling. You don't say what you're "posted" to in Anderson or how you know the crime rate. Perhaps you should talk to the three who have contacted us about a surge in crime as well as the one who replied to our blog on Facebook? As for that research, from where did you pull your statistics?
ReplyDeleteI am Deputy Mccrary and have been posted in Anderson since June of 2019. Since I have been there the drug issue is all but gone because most are in jail now. We have only had one break-in in the last three months . So yes I know my statistics because I created them. As for the people you say are complaining there is a public council meeting tonight at 7:00 pm I would really like to talk with them and you as well .Look forward to seeing you there.
