Muscle Shoals High Now Wants Two Gattman Ball Fields

For months, even years, the Muscle Shoals Board of Education has said it wanted one field exclusively for Muscle Shoals High Baseball. Now that there is a new Parks & Rec. director, the BOE says it wants two...actually all four when Muscle Shoals games are in session. This arrangement would apply at least from November until May. We say at least, since the needs for early practice or late tournaments are not addressed.

Gattman Park was established as a trust for the citizens of Muscle Shoals to use as a free city park, not as a school ball field. If any residents are upset over this, it's ostensibly set to be discussed and perhaps voted on during the next Muscle Shoals Council meeting. The City attorney is looking into the legality of the proposal due to the conditions of the Gattman trust.

Ah, just think of double the cursing from Balacky if he has two fields at his disposal...
