William Gordon Foster is Tuscumbia's new mayor. Until the resignation of former mayor Kerry Underwood, Foster represented Tuscumbia's District Three.
The new mayor is a longtime citizen of the town; his family roots go back generations. Along with his family, Foster owns Seven Springs Lodge and the Rattlesnake Saloon. A graduate of Cherokee High School, Foster is engaged to be married and has a daughter from a previous relationship.
Tuscumbia is divided into five districts. During the called meeting to select a new mayor, two council members voted for Foster, while two voted against him. Foster himself cast the deciding vote that elevated him to the office of mayor.
A separate meeting will now be called to select a replacement for Foster in District Three. Our best to Foster and the city for the next three years.
