You may have heard the good news often enough - there's a new bridge in the works on Lauderdale County Road 16. What you may not have heard is that residents around the construction site are being deprived of running water for their homes for large blocks of time, with no assurances that things will get better.
The problem with the West Lauderdale Water Department reached a peak this week, with dry faucets for almost 20 hour stretches. No warning is ever given for these cut-offs, and no one has any answers.
Joe Hackworth and Fay Parker are the county commissioners for District 2. Neither one will return phone calls from the irritated public. What's even stranger is that Hackworth's home address is listed as County Road 16. We assume the outage didn't affect him or perhaps he moved his family into a hotel for the duration of this project.
We're asking Hackworth and Parker to do the jobs for which they were elected. It's not just making public appearances and picking up a check. These two need actually to assist the residents in their district when needed.
At least pick up the phone, Fay and Joe!
Will it EVER matter to the stupid voters in Lauderdale county that they keep putting people in office who couldn't care less about their needs or wants? Of course, they get what they elect. The (R) by their names is all that matters and the politicians know it. No water in the county? Go to Florence and drink some of the poisoned swill we get served. Even in elections with NO party affiliation, sleazebag politicians are just that: SLEAZEBAG POLITICIANS!
